Pakistan Election 2024: Elections are going to be held in Pakistan from 8th February. However, the condition of Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is bad. His election symbol has been snatched from the party. Not only this, he has suffered another big setback before the elections. Party founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been sentenced to 7 years in prison in the case of ‘non-Islamic marriage’.
Imran Khan is continuously leading his party despite being in jail. At present he is imprisoned in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi. His wife Bushra Bibi surrendered this week. Bushra has been kept at his home on the outskirts of the capital Islamabad. His house was converted into a ‘sub-jail’ of sorts.
Election symbol also snatched
Many other party leaders are also badly affected. Many people are behind jail bars. Many leaders are hiding out of fear of being caught. Party leaders do not even have permission to organize rallies. The party’s election symbol, which was his cricket bat, is also no longer with him.
PTI working on Imran’s strategy
According to the BBC report, however, the party is trying to win the elections by running a large-scale online campaign under the leadership of new candidates. This clearly means that even though Imran is in jail, PTI will continue to take advice from him and work according to his strategy.
The party says that at present it will request the High Court to cancel the decision given in the lower court against Imran Khan and his wife. Imran Khan Was removed from his post through a no-confidence motion in April 2022.
